Through the combination with HVB, UniCredit will achieve its strategic goals in Romania without making major acquisitions, strengthening its position at the top of the Romanian banking system. As a consequence, UniCredit has decided not to take part in the privatisation processes of BCR and CEC.

With a 99.94% shareholding, UniCredit is the main shareholder of UniCredit Romania, which operates in the country also through UniCredit Leasing, one of the first specialized leasing companies, UniCredit Securities, provider of stock market investment services, and UniCredit Produzioni Accentrate (UPA), specialized in operational banking services.
