Role Overview

A Principal Banker based in Bucharest is sought, with a proven track record, to play a leading role in structuring and closing transactions in both the public and private sectors, using the full range of financing structures available to the Bank.

The focus will be on projects in Romania. In addition, the banker will be required to assist in the marketing of the Bank’s services to companies in the electricity and gas distribution sector throughout the region of South-East Europe.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

– Working throughout the whole life cycle of projects. This will be accomplished through marketing, project screening, origination, due diligence, structuring, negotiation, preparation, monitoring of projects and execution.

– The technical preparation, appraisal, and implementation of investment projects, and be familiar with the financial structuring of projects, including the use of guarantees.

– Credit and financial aspects of project development, including financial analysis of companies, production of financial projections and cash-flow models.

– Participate in monitoring of existing investments, including preparation of regular monitoring reports based on meetings with clients, site visits, financial review and other research.

– Collection and analysis of project information through research, due diligence and independent inquiry.

– Maintain an active policy dialogue with relevant Ministries, Agencies, and Regulators.

– An important component of the job will be to participate in the work of the Team and to ensure guidance of junior bankers and analysts.

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications

– Minimum of 7 years of investment bank/project finance experience, from a major international financial institution where he/she must have acquired high level banking/transaction skills and demonstrable expertise in structuring operations.

– Good relevant degree from a leading university in the country of education.

– Knowledge of the financial aspects of investments. Understanding of the policy issues in the electricity and gas distribution sector would be an advantage.

– Track record or proven potential for being a „deal maker”, project generator and Operation Leader.

– Credit analysis skills: ability to interpret accounts, understanding accounting principles and practice of credit analysis.

– Financial analysis skills: ability to design financial models; identify, understand and help solve complex issues; good knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS accounting.

– Sound understanding of business principles as well as regulatory issues in the power and gas market. Understanding of the regional energy market of South-East Europe (ECSEE) would be an advantage.

– Computer literacy with excellent Excel skills.
Very good written and oral communication skills in English, knowledge of Romanian is desirable.

– Fluency in another language (European or one of the Bank’s countries of operation) would be an advantage.
