At the end of December 2005 the reserves totaled 16.794 billion euros, 5.9 billion euros higher than in the last month of 2004.
The hike reported in December 2005 was the result of a one billion euros inflow. The sum came mostly from the revenue resulting from the management of the international money reserve, the modification of the minimum reserves in foreign currencies made by the banks and the foreign currency brought into the state reserve.
