Regarding some news released on the press today, Better World, the Brazilian company responsible for the construction of the Millennium Christmas Tree in Piata Unirii, wishes to make the following clarifications regarding this project:
1. The construction of the Bucharest Christmas Tree in Piata Unirii is the responsibility of Better World. Every year, since 1996 this company has been responsible for the construction of similar trees in Brazil, Portugal and Poland. The Millennium Christmas Tree in Piata Unirii is a scenographic project. It is intended to be an aesthetic object that can transmit the values of Christmas (love, solidarity, family) to the citizens of Bucharest. The Christmas Tree in Piata Unirii is based on the same project as the Christmas Tree in the city of Porto, Portugal built this year also by Better World, for the same Client, Millennium Bank. Therefore, the two trees have the exact same size, 76 meters.
2. The energy consumed by the Millennium Christmas comes from the National Energetic System, through Metrorex electrical wiring, which is not the same source that supplies domestic energy for homes. This is also confirmed by Mr. Gheorghe Udriste, director in Bucharest City Hall that also affirm that “the consumption of the Christmas Tree (600kva) is independent from the domestic consumption, and similar to what a building or company consumes and this don´t cause any negative impact in the provision of energy for Bucharest citizens ”.
Any electricity problems that Bucharest citizens may experience in their homes deserve our total solidarity, but they should be addressed to the competent energy supplier. Furthermore, Better World has a 12 years experience in building Christmas Trees in other cities around the world, and based on this experience we can assure that the energy consumption of the Tree is not likely to affect the normal life of the city where it is built.
